So our youth group started doing something new over the past few months. Instead of normal "preaching" time that high school students rather regularly zone out on, the speaker uses a different style of preaching. He or she still gets up and talks, but they use a variety of technology in the process. We have shown videos, played music, played youtube videos, watched clips of tv shows, and used power points. One of the neatest things we are doing though is allowing the students to text in any questions they may have about what the speaker is saying. Later, we will discuss those texts.
This new surge of technology within the youth group keeps the students much more involved and focused.

Whoa, that's a cool idea to have students text in questions. Very 21st century for sure. Sounds like a neat group and an effective ministry. Curious: what other ways does your youth group create interaction with the students?

I think that texting is such a cool idea! I think it would be great to give students the opportunity to text their teacher with any homework questions, or even parents could text! Calling is more formal and can be intimidating for students but this way students can text you anytime and you can reply to their text whenever you are available.
