Music in the inner city...

One thing that is incredibly popular among inner city students is music. It can be popular among any student, but in the inner city it is all about Hip Hop and rap. I was thinking lately how I could incorporate music into my classroom. It is not groundbreaking technology, but the students do connect with it. So let's see here. How could I use music in my classroom?...

In a poetry unit (as an example of poetry)
As an example of rhythmic writing
When talking about metaphors
When talking about idioms
When talking about metered verse, sprung rhythm, free verse
As we learn about the form of a piece of writing equalling content
As an example of symbolism
For an ice breaker
For an anticipatory set
As music to enter class to

Just some thoughts:)
